Speaking of hosting videos on YouTube and seeing beyond the still and, most of all, time-lapse inspiration, take a gander what I came up with this weekend:
The Back Story
On Friday night I started watching — for the first time in nearly 30 years — the original “Clash of the Titans”, and then, after my girlfriend went to bed, I watched the first half of “Avatar.” (Talk about compare and contrast.) The girlfriend and I finished up “Clash” on Saturday, and my desire to play around with stop-motion photography drove me to fiddle for a few hours with my Canon G9, mostly taking 300+ stills of chess pieces walking around. (Snooze.) Still, I hadn’t gotten anywhere significant before it was time to head out to a party, the birthday celebration of a friend who is a documentary film maker, Alejo Hoijman. Chatting with numerous creative types there got me more revved up to create a stop-motion story. But, when I got home at 2:00 a.m., I was pretty exhausted, ready to hit the sack. . .until. . .I watched the tango scene from “Take the Lead,” featuring the awesome contemporary tango music by Gotan Project. All pumped up by electronic tango music and inspired by “Clash of the Titans”and partying with creative types and having my G9 right there in front of me. . .um, well. . .how could I not play until eight in the morning to make this?
